90 Day Health Challenge

Overview

The 90 Days Health Challenge is part of a mobile wellness ecosystem created to help users build and maintain consistent healthy habits over 90 days. Unlike traditional fitness apps focused solely on exercise, this experience takes a holistic approach to well-being, guiding users to improve their physical, spiritual, and chemical balance through reflection, small actions, and consistent progress. Beyond individual participants, the platform was also designed to support organizations that want to bring wellness programs into their workplace.

The Company

This project was developed for Delta Health Coaching, a wellness company dedicated to empowering individuals to take ownership of their health through education, accountability, and daily consistency.

Delta’s philosophy is built around the Triad of Health — balancing Physical, Spiritual, and Chemical well-being.

Their mission is to simplify the path to wellness, making it approachable, educational, and emotionally rewarding.

The Challenge

Many users start wellness programs with enthusiasm but lose motivation over time. The main design challenge was to build a digital environment that sustains engagement and fosters emotional accountability — without creating pressure or guilt.

We needed to balance accountability, autonomy, and empathy, ensuring that every interaction felt encouraging and rewarding.

Research & Insights

Through interviews with participants and coaches, several patterns emerged:

  • Users felt overwhelmed by long daily forms and needed quick interactions.
  • Motivation increased when they saw visible progress or received encouragement.
  • Coaches wanted a dashboard to track participants’ performance and send reminders efficiently.

Dual Experience Design

The system was structured into two connected yet distinct interfaces, each designed for a specific audience and purpose.

  1. Participant App – to log habits, set goals, and see progress.
  2. Admin Portal – to manage participants, send reminders, and view statistics.

Participant Experience

1. Onboarding & Profile Setup

  • A guided, three-step flow helps users personalize their journey:
  • Profile Information: name, company, display name, contact info.
  • Lab Information: height, weight, blood pressure with visual scales for clarity.
  • Goals Definition: users set Physical, Spiritual, and Chemical goals with contextual examples

2. Participant Dashboard

  • The Dashboard acts as the home base for participants — a daily snapshot combining progress tracking, encouragement, and learning.
  • Designed to reduce friction — users can log, read, and reflect without navigating multiple tabs

3. Daily Log & Journaling

  • Each day, users log small achievements and reflections.
  • Activities like exercise, hydration, or sun exposure add points and trigger visual feedback (confetti animations, progress rings).
  • Participants then complete three short journal reflections:
    • Physical: “How did you care for your body today?”
    • Spiritual: “How did you connect with your purpose or emotions?”
    • Chemical: “How did you nourish yourself today?”
 4. Leaderboard & Social Motivation
  • A Leaderboard system encourages friendly engagement through:
    • Overall and Company Rankings tabs.
    • Points per category and week.
    • Emphasis on celebration, not competition — keeping it inclusive for users at different fitness levels.

5. Notifications & Alerts

  • Smart notifications keep users motivated without overwhelming them.
    • Reminders: “Daily check-in time.”
    • Achievements: “Weekly goal completed!”
    • Admin: “New health article available.”
    • System alerts: “You missed your daily log.”

Admin Portal Experience

1. Admin Dashboard

  • A clear overview of all active challenges and participants:
  • Weekly summary of company progress.
  • Notifications about milestones or low engagement.
  • Quick-access metrics (e.g., “Top Performing Company,” “Most Active Participant”).

2. Participant Management

  • Admins can search for participants, open detailed profiles, and view:
    • Weekly and total points (Physical, Spiritual, Chemical).
    • Goal summaries and engagement logs.
    • Contact info and company data.

Admin can edit participant details or send personalized messages to motivate re-engagement.

3. Challenge Management

  • Admins can easily create and configure 90-day challenges, controlling:
    • Weekly goals.
    • Point distribution.
    • Participant assignment and invitations.
    • Challenge duration and status.
